Anita Ritzl better known by her stage name “Niddl” was born September 8th, 1976 in Vienna. She already started with music at the age of five and played cross flute and accordion. Also a ballet course was part of her early childhood education.
Those activities were followed by performances with her school choir and the ballet troupe. However her main interests by that time were sport activities so her real passion for music remained undiscovered as a result of her reticence.
Everything changed in the year 1999 when she was attending a karaoke competition just for fun and surprisingly won the contest. Afterwards Niddl started a voice training with Susanne Heidrich, M.A..
By that time she was working as a management assistant in advertising. Her superior encouraged her to attend a casting of the German TV-Show “Pop Stars”. In this competition Niddl reached the top 15 out of 5000 candidates and attended several intensive workshops for singing, dancing, performing and so on. The outcome of this “Pop Stars” season was the girl-group “No Angels”.
Back to Vienna Niddl started new exciting musical activities and gained experience with bands in different genres like rock, pop, techno etcetera.
Her attendance in the year 2003 at the Austrian casting show “Starmania” lead to more publicity in Austria. At this TV-show she reached the 4th place out of 1700 candidates.
After this contest, Niddl and the other “Starmaniacs” toured through Austria and performed live in front of thousands of people. In the same summer she won a casting for the musical “Grease” in New York but her tight time schedule in Europe forced her to a decision between those two opportunities. So the decision was made for her carrier as an independent singer to create her individual music style.
Her first single release was „Perfect Attitude“ which reached the 8th rank in the top 10 of the „Austrian Charts“. The B-title of this single was „I dont wanna be your friend“ written by the famous American songwriter Dianne Warren (Aerosmith, Destiny´s Child, Cindy Lauper etc.). In the Year 2004 Niddl has also been nominated for the “Amadeus Music Award” in the category “newcomer of the year”. This was the start of her independent music carrier.
Besides many appearances with „DJ Sonic Seven“ (House), „Seven Tea“ (Funk/Soul) and others, she also hosted several live-events and wrote columns for the Austrian magazines “News”, “TV Media” and “Xpress”.
Other released singles by Niddl:
June 2008 – Sonic Seven feat Niddl – You can be the one
September 2008 - „Turn it up“ (has been the official "Snickers NO LIMIT Sports Competition“ commercial song.)
October 2010 - TIME TO SMILE – (Song for the „Orbit Smile Award“)
After additional excursions in many different music genres Niddl started with songwriting and found her own musical style.
Due to the 30th anniversary of the clubbing „Respekt“, which took place in the year 2010 in the famous Viennese Club “U4” the first “Niddl-Band” was founded. The project “Niddl & the NoNo Band” was born. In addition a smaller delegation named “Niddl Unplugged” was founded in November 2010.
Currently Niddl is touring through Europe for “Magic Life” and plays many gigs with “the NoNo Band” and “Niddl Unplugged”. Besides she is recording her first solo album, which will be released 2012. A little foretaste, of what is to come are the singles “No Way” (reached 23rd rank at the download charts), “Gotta Get A Move On” and "Cry Loud" which are downloadable at iTunes and many other music-download-sites.
